Round the Southern Bohemia castles and chateaux
Term: Guided cycling tours:
distance: 245 km long
duration: 8 days
Southern Bohemia abounds in a countless number of cultural and historic places of interest. Many of them are UNESCO protected, e.g. the historic town of Český Krumlov with its chateau and the second largest castle in the Czech Republic, or a charming village of Holašovice with its unrepeatable rural architecture, or an ancient town of Telč, or the Jewish ghetto in the town of Třebíč. Some other places of interest such as the dominant castle of Rožmberk and Jindřichův Hradec, or fascinating chateau of Hluboká and Červená Lhota have become important national monuments. During the cycling tour you will have a chance to see most of them.
The programme includes also something extra:
- Chair lift up to the top of the Kleť (altitude 1084 m)
- Dinner in a tavern of the period in Český Krumlov
- Tour around the Regent Brewery in Třeboň
- Tour around the “water” chateau in Červená Lhota
- Night tour around the castle in Jindřichův Hradec
The tour is 245 km long and it has been divided into daily sections which are from 28 to 55 km long. In the surroundings of Český Krumlov and across the Českomoravská Vysočina Highlands the level of diffi culty is higher due to a steeper uphill and longer downhill rides but in the surroundings of the town of Třeboň where the lowland character of the countryside prevails the diffi culty also decreases.
